Dr. Shupp is also the lead investigator at the Firefighters' Burn and Surgical Research Laboratory and the director of burn research at MedStar Health Research Institute. Dr. Shupp specializes in treating burns, trauma to the skin, including electrical and chemical injuries, complex wounds, and other skin disorders that result in skin loss, such as toxic epidermal necrolysis and Stevens-Johnson syndrome. Dr. Yoel Rojas-Ortiz, MD (Host and speaker ) Dr. Rojas is an avid researcher, with authorial credits in numerous prestigious publications. He has received many awards, including the Best Student in Surgery Medal and the Academic Excellence Award, both from the UPR School of Medicine. He specializes in burn care and facial reconstruction, procedures that he has researched, published, and presented on extensively throughout his academic career. Having completed a two-year burn fellowship during his residency, Dr. Rojas has a passion for reconstructive surgery for burn patients, as well as experience in the management of chronic and difficult wounds.
